Private Gardens - Gonzor, Nr Shaftsbury
Budget: £500,000 plus
In 2005 Tim Lynch Associates was appointed on an 8 acre private garden on the outskirts of Shaftsbury. The garden is to be a retirement home for a professional couple and the brief was fairly open, this being to create a new garden, using the existing features of a walled garden and 1 acre vegetable plot and design a series of areas to sit and view the countryside.
Following the preparation of a landscape masterplan, which resulted from a series of meetings and presentation boards, the garden was phased for construction.
As can be seen from the "before" pictures, the garden was derelict and it was quickly agreed that all the hard landscape would be undertaken first.
Following a detailed level and measured survey of the garden, we designed all the paving and driveway layouts on our computer aided system. This enabled us to work out the drainage and lighting layouts (as the garden has over 28 individual lighting systems) wall construction and step and feature details.
We then put the scheme out to tender and a contractor was appointed.
All works are project managed by ourselves, including all valuations and instructions.
Instructed on landscape masterplan and selected detailed design.
