Care Homes - Beaconsfield
Following planning permission in 2007 the site contained three private homes all of which were removed from site. Over the next 14 months the assisted living care home was built on a tight site. This resulted in the garden being fully secure with specialist dementia care garden being located on the third floor with its own private garden.
The design was based around two gazebos at the opposite end of the garden. One in full sun the other in partial shade. This allowed the design of two different styles of garden appropriate to there location.
Between these two features is a pathway system that meets in the middle to form a garden club area. Located to have the majority of the sun throughout the day, its position is such that residents pass each other and allows social meeting and gardening activity to take place at the same time.
From this an inner courtyard was constructed consisting of two seating areas, again in sun or part shade, dry river bed and water feature, linked together by a lighting system sunk into the flooring and a wireless sounds system for those occasions that requires a more party atmosphere.
